I'm a little late to this party, but congratulations, Lucy! Congrats on your book, too....I love the combination of art and photography. You go girl.
Cathleen Toelke
hey there's talk about the school about you! congratulations, and i guess we'll be seeing you soon! (i was this year's fellow at CCS and will probably be sticking around town this summer. you'll recognize me -- i'll be the bum outside the bagel shop punching myself in the face for quarters.)
i had the same problem when i was applying for the fellowship -- i was sure i wasn't getting in because i sucked. the difference with you though is you don't suck.
when are you coming to town? the house a few of us share will have some rooms opening up in the summer and we're really hoping to fill them. they're way, way cheaper and better than the sucky coolidge!
also, you should get on the CCS message board. there's lots of griping and gossip and stuff, and everyone's curious about the NKOTB.
Wow! Really? Crazy! It's like I'm there, already! I'm working in Chicago this summer, but I have to come out to VT to find an apartment/place to live in June, and then I won't totally move until July. I stayed in the Coolidge when I came to visit, and have never been more frightened of a hotel in my life-- and I've stayed at the hotel where "The Shining" was filmed! So that place is OUT. How do I get to the message board? I'd LOVE to join it, but in terms of school info, CCS has only sent me a letter of congrats and a copy of "In the Shadows of No Towers." Oh, and a couple pamphlets on the exciting things to do in Vermont and New Hampshire, which frightened me a little. God love those cartoonist types! Looking forward to seeing/meeting you. And to an honest bagel place, esp. where I can watch someone offer to punch themselves for monies. There really aren't any good bagel places in Chicago...
hey--
getting on the board should be as easy as emailing michelle ollie or james sturm and asking them to give you a password or whatever -- i think they're just sturm or ollie @cartoonstudies.org. it should be on the website.
if you're coming in june there's definitely a possibility of getting a room at the red house (where my truck is parked and a few really nice people live). if you want to email you... wait... you're going to be at the APE, right? we can just talk then. robyn's there too, we'll both be behind the CCS table at some point or another.
for the rest -- things to "do" in vermont and whatnot -- i'll tell you about all that later...
kewl. I've emailed James, so I might be on, soon. And yeah, I'd love to check out the red house! And I missed out on APE this year, sadly, because I am poooor, and still have to graduate from college in three weeks. Bummer. I would have really liked to meet you guys, and plus, I have a book to sell! I hope it was fun, though. Lotsa friends of mine went, making me buuuurn with jealousy. I can't wait to hear all about it. Coming to MoCCA? I'll be there, likely, horning in on whoever's table will let me plant a few books. I'm sure the things to do in Vermont are numerous and life-alteringly-exciting. |
