You actually inspired me to do hourlies today, despite the fact I draw like a child! Whatever they are still fun <3
500 Days of Summer was awful. I feel like it was a movie about adults acting like teenagers.
Yay! Hourlies are the best when you just do them anyway, you know?
Oh gawd 500 days of summmerrrrrr. It makes me never want to date ever ever ever again.
You and Becki didn't like (500) Days of Summer? I enjoyed the heck out of it.
Auuuugh. That guy was so annoyyyying! The movie was prettily made, but I couldn't stop being irritated by that ridiculous male character! And getting the impression that the director was in love with Zooey Deschenel, and the screenwriter was one of those buttheads that always say, "I'm SO NICE, why don't WOMEN LIKE ME????"
I enjoyed 500 Days of Summer, but I am able to recognize that the "hero" was acting like an epic douche throughout. (But I can't stay mad at him, because I have totally been That Person in a relationship who refuses to see that it is not working. And then gets pissed at the other person for having it all together afterwards.)
OH AND ALSO - I also always wish that I could be instantly prettier when considering new hairstyles. I always seem to be drawn to styles that would never in a million years actually work with the hair growing out of my head. Or my face. Because the models in the pictures are so dang pretty!
Hi long-time lurker. Just wanted to say I really like the new hair cut! I know how you feel about wishing the instant pretty would happen with a hair cut. I've been torn about 500 Days of Summer. A lot of people love it but then it got such bad reviews.
I really enjoy your drawings! Thanks for posting them.
This was fun to read. :D as always. and your hair is nice! :D YAY!
Monster hit win!
argh! you are much smarter than I am: I did my hourlies in a Moleskine (well, the ones I ended up doing... I didn't have anything to tell for most hours) and it was a pain to do anything on the go. How did you do it in so little time though? Your stuff looks so good. I guess it's easier when you really have worked out a style (I'm still struggling with that... my hourlies looked like crap. must draw more!)
what kind of size are those hourlies? I figure pretty small if they fit in a back pocket... you're really great at composing the panels though, they never look too crowded or too empty.

the dangers of overdosing on whimsy
500 Days of Summer. part of the conspiracy to make Zoey deschanel sing in every movie she is in. The powers that be will make you bow down to the quirky girl in tights whether you want to or not.
That Super Cute Quirky Girl From that Movie
After an intense shared experience, super cute quirky girl cuts all of her hair off in an adorable pixie cut and begins speaking with a british accent because she’s “starting over.”Real World:
After chasing xanax and vicodin with a bottle of red wine, she shaves her head unevenly and passes out at your cousin’s wedding."

True Life: I'm Addicted to True Life
So that's the end of the hourly comics, until next year!
aw, man! i was really enjoying the weekly hourlies! and my sister thinks that you have the cutest cat ever, hahaha. :)
Are you thinking about doing roller derby? It's pretty expensive for all the equipment upfront, but it's totally worth it. Depending on where you live and which leagues are near you, you might even be able to reach out to them and get some secondhand stuff for cheaper.
You should do it! So much fun!

It is my absolute dream to do derby. I've wanted to try out for a while, but on top of the expensive equipment situation and the difficulties in practicing skating in a city that is mostly ice slush, the reality is that if I fuck up my drawing hand doing derby I could be pretty effed. That said, I'm still dying to do it.
The Windy City Rollers are here in Chicago-- I'd have no idea how to bug them for second-hand stuff. I will probably slowly acquire the equipment over years and eventually work up the nerve to try out, but those girls are FAST.
Thanks for the tip! I'll see if I can figure out some secondhand stuff.
woohoooo hourlies! i love these.
the awful pile of junk that was 500 days of summer made me SO ANGRY! god what a terrible film. after it ended i just wanted to punch someone.
how many photos did you have to take before you got one that you both liked?
Oh, I'm so happy there's another person on this planet that though 500 Days of Summer was so stoopid (guy was a schlep with a fixation on a 'quirky' girl) and then the ending, ugh! If I hadn't just eaten decadent and delicious chocolate-lavender ice cream I would've puked. I streamed it online and skipped through some of it, hehe.
What's dat on your arm? Tattoo or pen doodle?
Yay! Awesome comic! Cool hair! Lots of exclamations! Linney needs her own hourly comic, haha... sleep, sleep, eat, lick, make biscuits, sleep, etc. I'm glad I did the hourlies this year, I totally forgot last year.
i love your comics, and i decided to do this too...
funny thing, since i didnt go out yesterday, i figured i could make my hourly more interesting baking brownies haha, i guess i wasnt the only one =D
Nope, needs to be shorter.
I liked your hair before, but you could pull off a short do and look cute for sure, this...is just sorta half and half and lifeless. I'm sorry.
I actually like how short you drew it in the comic.
Edited at 2010-02-03 07:13 am (UTC)
Haha, it was like 8 inches off-- I told the girl to go shorter, but my stylist was a little nervous about it. I'll probably go shorter next time. No sense in rushing it.
I have that 2pm thought every time I'm about to get my hair cut.
awww I'll miss the hourlies, I really like yours!
I'll miss your hourlies too! Especially the cat pictures - I love your cat!
That hat is made of pure awesome. Also I love your kitteh. Great hair too!
Great idea on the mini comic cards. I wish I took the day off to do this. ;)
Two things about 500 Days
1. I want to punch both main characters, for different reasons.
2. It seems to me that they took the basic plot of a generic romantic comedies (Girl in Mediocre Relationship Falls in Love With Mysterious Stranger and Realizes True Love is Real) only they told it from the point of view of the boyfriend who gets dumped. (And who should be more pissed about her behavior and not all "I just want you to be happy, whinewhinewhine...")
The second panel of 10pm should totally be a T-shirt!
