heh, nice one. good luck!
I always get so excited when I see your work. I love your art style
Thanks! I'm excited to make it.
Based on my experiences on a cruise last year:
BRING ALL THE E-BOOKS.
Haha, yes, I will be doing that for sure. Also I will have a travelogue to make, so maybe I'll actually keep up with it this time! Says the girl still 50 pages behind on her europe travelogue...
Amazing! What are your destinations?
Ha...all their kids are identifiable by glasses? It must run in the family! I bet this will be a really neat comic, and I hope you have a fun, weird trip.
We're a reading family. I've been drawing myself with contacts in recently, but I'm just like my four-eyed clan.
Aruba is supposed to be gorgeous. Ask all the old people stories about when they were young. Because if they are anything like my Grandma or Great Aunt, they probably had a pretty wild time. (One time when my Grandma was in her twenties, she and her friend drove from Seattle to like... Vancouver BC and hit every.single.bar. along the way. She also dated a lot of sailors and went to a lot of parties.
yes, this, and *record* the stories! ask your grands about when your parents and their sibs were younger, too. you can get some priceless stories that way, and I wish I'd had the chance to record them while mine were still here.
edit: complete words... good things, they are!

I went on a cruise to Alaska with my grandparents two years ago. Good luck, have fun, don't OD on the desserts!
It will be an amazing adventure...of some sort.
I just read through Fresh Milk (a gift from a friend who lived in France for a few months) and I am hoping against hope that you have enough content from the cruise to make it into a second beautiful book.
French Milk* :)
Beautiful work, Lucy!
Ah yes! Damn my typing and brain! Either way, it's brilliant.
lol i love the comedy gold glasses, they should be real! have fun! >w
Have a fabulous time! Can't wait for comic!
Have a great time! May it reap an adventurous (but not TOO) adventurous story!
Wow! What a great idea! Cruises are great - they're a chance to see places you wouldn't see usually while having access to ALL THE FOOD.
Hope you have a great time and I look forward to hearing how it went :)
Have a great time! I'm pretty sure it'll make for an interesting travel log! You're an introspective girl, you tend to think about things a lot. In the middle of an ocean with not much distraction, I'm pretty sure it'll give you loads of time to think about stuff and invest in your grandparents.
I don't know how talkative they are, but you could ask them about their history. Make a book somewhat biographies of their lives. As thanks to them for taking you along.
Boats are so cool!
Have a great time, Lucy!
great, hope you have a fun holiday
awesome. i'm looking forward to the results!
I used to work for a cruise line. Which line are you sailing with?
Generally, the folks on cruise ships are really helpful for older passengers, and will go above and beyond to make sure they don't have any problems.
I went on several cruises for work. I appreciate being able to sit quietly on the deck of a ship and read or draw or paint. I know a lot of people my age get really bored really fast. When you're in port, the ship will have tours and things you can go on. They are more expensive to book through the ship itself. If you go explore the ports without the ship, you'll find people selling the same tours for less. However, if you do tours that are not connected to the ship, and something goes poorly, you've got no recourse. If you book ship tours, they'll usually help you out if something goes wrong, or the tour guide is a dick or something like that.
When I went with my mom, who has some health issues, she couldn't spend the whole day doing stuff in port. So we usually booked an activity (like horse-back riding, swimming with dolphins) and did that in the morning. Then she would go back to the ship to rest, and I spent the rest of the day wandering around the ports on my own. You can learn a lot more about the places that way than by sticking with the rest of the cruise passengers. Just make sure you leave yourself time to get back to the ship. They will leave without you!
oh my god. that's fascinating
Whoa, good luck! I'll be looking forward to your return and reading your comic! I'm sure you all will have an awesome time!
This is inspiring me to take some time off with my family as well...
I am so jealous of you Lucy!! This is an incredible opportunity. My grandfather died suddenly and unexpectedly last week at 82. I wish I could have had a trip like this with my grandparents (although they did take me to Disney World when I turned 10!). I'm sure you will have some trying times too but WOW what an opportunity. Cherish every moment and take lots of pictures!!! Listen to them a lot and ask lots of questions about how they feel and their memories. I can't believe I'll never get another story out of my grandfather or bring him happiness by remembering his happiest times as he told me about them.
This sounds like the beginning of a romantic comedy. Maybe sound other young'un will be making the trip with their grandparents!
I like this idea. Make it so, Universe.
Ooooh I can't wait to read about this. And yes, good luck. You'll probably appreciate this trip later on in life, I'm sure. :)
